Assignment Editor | Broadcast Television Division | Phoenix, AZ

Job Description
  1. Assist in guiding the organization of news coverage.
  2. Dispatch news crews.
  3. Monitor police and fire scanners and make source calls and assign crews accordingly.
  4. Book and aid in the recording of satellite feeds.
  5. Assist newscast Producers in story development.
  6. Point person for all next day evening news planning.
  7. Point person for all long term evening news planning.
  8. Assist with assigning and updating web content for ABC15.com.
  9. Perform other duties as needed and directed by the News Director or Managing Editor.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Four-year college degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years medium to large market experience on assignment desk preferred. Market knowledge a plus. At least one year producing experience preferred.

EQUIPMENT: Experience working with newsroom computer systems and computer databases a must. Knowledge of Beta editing preferred.

SKILLS: Must be agressive with breaking news, creative, organized, possess strong people skills, and be able to handle deadline pressure and to juggle multiple tasks. Must be a self-starter, who can effectively manage their duties, at times without supervision.
