Producer | EW Scripps | Phoenix, AZ
Primary Purpose:
The producer will create, lead and organize content for multiple
platforms utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and
communication skills.
Key Activities (The primary processes you conduct in your role):
- Develop and organize newscasts; responsible for writing, story development and showcasing
- Works closely with news managers, assignment editors and associate producers to determine content needs
- Enhance content of the rundown with graphics, video, research, and station branding
- Execute time sensitive decisions
- Write clearly for multiple platforms
- Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions
- Edit video for multiple platforms
- Post content to station's Web sites
- Perform duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education - BS/BA in related discipline.
Experience - Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field.
Skills/Abilities - Fully competent and productive professional
contributor, working independently on larger, moderately complex
projects/assignments. Must work well under deadline pressure. must be
self-motivated and adaptable to changing schedules. Excellent writing
skills needed. Must have good creative and editorial judgment. Must
work well with news personnel and other station employees and the
general public. Must be available for shift changes, nights, weekends
and/or holidays and possible overtime hours. Knowledge of iNews
computer system preferred.
