Morning Producer | KSHB-TV, NBC Action News | Kansas City, MO
KSHB-TV is looking for a detail oriented and fairly independent writer
to develop and organize the NBC Action News morning Newscast.
Primary Purpose
What your role contributes to Scripps
- The producer will create, lead and organize content for multiple
platforms utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and
communication skills.
Key Activities
The primary processes you conduct in your role
- Develop and organize newscasts; responsible for writing, story
development and showcasing
- Works closely with news managers, assignment editors and associate
producers to determine content needs
- Enhance content of the rundown with graphics, video, research, and
station branding
- Execute time sensitive decisions
- Write clearly for multiple platforms
- Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment,
journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute
editorial decisions
- Edit video for multiple platforms
- Post content to station's Web sites
- Perform duties as assigned
- BS/BA in related discipline.
- Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is
required in some areas.
OR
- MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field;
certification is required in some areas.
- Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working
independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
- Performs full range of standard professional level work that
typically requires processing and interpreting, more complex, less
clearly-defined issues. Identifies problems and possible solutions and
takes appropriate action to resolve.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance
only on unusual complex problems or issues.
- Work review typically involves periodic review of output by
supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
- May provide general guidance or train junior level support and
professional personnel.
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and
procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of
moderately complex assignments. Solid knowledge of organization's
technologies and practices.
